| Cesc Fabregas bids to play his first game for Arsenal this season |
| ARSENAL hope Cesc Fabregas will finally play for the club against Benfica on Saturday. The skipper, wanted by Barcelona, is set to train at the Emirates today in front of 10,000 fans at the club's members' day. And boss Arsene Wenger wants to know by tonight whether Fabregas - who insists he has a hip injury - will be on the plane to Lisbon tomorrow. Fabregas has yet to feature for Arsenal this pre-season and he will only play in the Premier League opener away at Newcastle on Saturday week if he features against Benfica. The Gunners were last night close to selling Ivory Coast star EMMANUEL EBOUE, 28, to Galatasaray for £3.5million. Eboue, who follows left-back Gael Clichy out of the club, has been told Bacary Sagna will be first-choice right-back - and has agreed a three-year deal with the Turkish giants. |
