    Chelsea signs Spain midfielder Oriol Romeu

    LONDON (AP)—Spain Under-20 midfielder Oriol Romeu has joined Chelsea from Champions League winner Barcelona on a four-year-contract.

    The 19-year-old Romeu, who is a defensive midfielder, is currently representing Spain at the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia. He has completed both games that Spain have played in the tournament.

    Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas said last week while in Thailand that Romeu “is one of the most promising young players in that position.”

    Romeu made only two appearances for Barcelona last season.

    Details of the contract were not available.
